The American Woman Cookbook

Edited by Ruth Berolzheimer

The American Womanıs Cookbook, edited by Ruth Berolzheimer was one of the must have cookbooks in the 40's, 50's and 60's. It was published year after year as it was updated because it was so popular. During the war years of World War Two there were also war recipes included. This book had everything in it about cooking, entertaining . It is the first cookbook to feature the thumbnail index.

A complete encyclopedic vintage cookbook that has additional sections about food, menu making, meal planning, food purchasing, table settings, carving, buffet service, cooking for two, casserole cookery, pickles, preserving and jelly making and many more tips to help the homemaker.

A Review
Here is one of the reviews of the book by a Judith Martin. She gave it 5 stars commenting,"This is the book my mother lived by when it came to cooking for the family "army" when all 30 of them showed up for the Christmas Eve Party at our house. Her two sisters had this book as well, so they did some of the cooking and baking to keep Mom from having to do all the cooking in her tiny kitchen. And, as for entertaining, this book still has it all when it comes to table settings and where the water and wine glasses have to go".
